We all have different reasons for starting our counselling or psychotherapy journey.
Finding a counsellor who is a good fit for you is fundamental for the effectiveness of your sessions. Research supports that the working relationship between the client and counsellor is critical for the outcome of counselling sessions. I offer a free initial session for you to find out for yourself whether you would feel comfortable working with me, with no obligation to continue.
Counselling and Psychotherapy are known to be very effective talking therapies. As a qualified Counsellor, I provide a safe, confidential and empathic space to explore your individual needs from your sessions and agree on what areas you would like to focus on when working together.
I use a technique called Transactional Analysis (TA), conceived by Dr Eric Berne in the 50s as a theory of human behaviour, personality, and communication. Alongside this approach, I incorporate a variety of other approaches in my treatment plan, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, Person-Centred Counselling, Psychodynamic Counselling and Self Psychology literature including cultural identity. From experience, I have found that combining different aspects works really well as our individual needs from counselling will vary significantly.
